State Liberals vote to remove minimum work hours

The Victorian Young Liberals passed a motion at the State Council today calling upon the Federal Coalition Government to abolish the minimum shift length for casual employees.

Currently the minimum shift varies between awards, but it is integral to protecting the rights of casual workers.

2011 ABS statistics estimate that 1 in 5 Australian workers are employed casually and this increases every year.
